One big family tree. Darwin suggested that all living things are related, descending from common ancestors long, long ago. It's like every plant and animal sitting on the same enormous family tree.

Famous big idea. He explained how species change through a process called natural selection, where the creatures best suited to their surroundings tend to survive and pass on their traits.

A shared announcement. Darwin presented his theory together with another scientist named Alfred Russel Wallace, who had reached similar ideas on his own.

A great honor. He is considered one of the most influential people in history and was buried in Westminster Abbey in London.
