The Middle Ages

A long time ago. The Middle Ages stretched from about the 400s to the late 1400s, lasting roughly a thousand years in Europe.

Stuck in the middle. It got its name because it sits between two other big eras: ancient classical times and the modern period.

Three smaller parts. Historians split it into the Early, High, and Late Middle Ages to keep track of all the changes.

A world chapter. It lines up with what scholars call the 'post-classical period' in the bigger story of global history.
