Four King Georges. Four different kings named George ruled Britain during this era, from 1714 to 1830. Each one had their own style, and they kept the kingdom changing and growing the whole time.
Beautiful buildings everywhere. Georgian architecture became super popular during this time, with elegant townhouses, grand estates, and perfectly balanced designs that people still admire today. These buildings had symmetrical windows, tall doors, and ornate details that made them look like works of art.
Literature inspired by Rome. Writers and poets of the Georgian era looked back to ancient Roman authors for inspiration, creating work that was witty, clever, and full of clever wordplay. This style was called Augustan literature because it copied the Golden Age of Roman writing.
Plays, poems, and prose flourished. The era produced amazing drama, poetry, and prose that people loved to read and watch performed. Writers experimented with new ideas and styles that made literature more exciting and entertaining.
Prince's unusual situation. During part of this era, Prince George IV ruled as regent (a stand-in leader) because his father King George III became very ill. This special period is called the Regency era and has its own interesting history.
