Cool facts
Pictures in motion. Animation works by showing many still images one after another, so fast that your brain sees them as smooth, continuous movement, kind of like flipping through a comic book really quickly.
Hand-drawn magic. Traditional animators draw or paint each frame by hand on transparent sheets called celluloid, then photograph them to create the final film.
Computer animation. Modern animators often use computers to create images, called CGI (computer-generated imagery), which lets them build entire worlds and characters digitally.
Claymation charm. Stop motion animation uses real objects like clay or puppets that are photographed in tiny movements to create the illusion of them moving on their own.
Art form for everyone. Animation is recognized as a serious artistic medium, not just for kids, filmmakers use it to tell all kinds of stories and express creative ideas.
