No seeds needed. Ferns don't grow from seeds or flowers like most plants. Instead, they release tiny spores that can grow into new ferns.
Built-in plumbing. Ferns are vascular plants, which means they have special tubes inside that carry water and nutrients to and from their roots.
Curly babies. Young fern leaves are tightly coiled like the top of a violin, which is why they're nicknamed 'fiddleheads' before they unfurl.
Super ancient. Ferns are some of the oldest plants on Earth, growing long before flowers ever existed.
