Cool facts
Speed Gets Faster. Exponential growth means that the bigger something gets, the quicker it grows. If you have 10 bacteria and they double every hour, after one hour you have 20, but after two hours you have 40, and after three hours you have 80. The speed of growth keeps getting faster.
Doubling Over Time. One common type of exponential growth is when something doubles again and again. Think of a viral video that starts with 100 views, then 200, then 400, then 800. Each time it doubles, the jump gets bigger because you're doubling a larger number.
Nature Loves This. Bacteria and viruses grow exponentially because each cell can split into two new cells. One cell becomes two, two become four, four become eight. In just a few days, a tiny population can explode into billions.
Real World Example. When a social network or app becomes popular, exponential growth explains why it suddenly seems like everyone has it. A few friends download it, they tell more friends, those friends tell their friends, and soon millions of people are using it.
Can't Last Forever. Nothing can grow exponentially forever because eventually it runs out of space, food, or resources. A population of rabbits might grow exponentially for a while, but eventually they'll have eaten all the plants and can't grow anymore.
