Turns electricity into light. Electric lights work by using electricity to create light in different ways. The electricity flows through the bulb and produces the bright glow that lets us see in the dark.

Found almost everywhere. Electric lights are the most common type of artificial lighting in the world. You'll find them in homes, schools, streetlights, and almost every building you can think of.

Different bases and connections. Light bulbs connect to fixtures using different methods like screw-threads (the spiral kind you twist), metal pins, bayonet mounts, or metal caps. Each type fits securely into different light fixtures.

Made from sturdy materials. The base of a light bulb is usually made from ceramic, metal, glass, or plastic. These materials are tough enough to hold the bulb safely in place while electricity flows through it.
