Invisible waves. Radio works using radio waves, a kind of electromagnetic wave you can't see, hear, or feel as they travel through the air.
Send and catch. A transmitter with an antenna sends the waves out, and a receiver with another antenna catches them, that's the basic idea of radio.
Huge range. Radio waves can have frequencies anywhere from 3 hertz all the way up to 300 gigahertz.
More than music. Besides broadcasting songs and voices, radio is used for radar, navigation, remote controls, and even sensing things from far away.
