Cool facts
Powered by batteries. Electric cars have huge rechargeable batteries that store electricity, kind of like a giant version of your phone's battery. When you plug it in at home or at a charging station, the battery fills up with energy to power the car.
No gas engine needed. Instead of an engine that burns gasoline, electric cars use electric motors that are much simpler and quieter. This means they don't make the rumbling sounds regular cars do!
Better for the planet. Electric cars produce zero exhaust fumes, so they don't pollute the air like gasoline cars do. This helps keep the air cleaner for everyone to breathe.
Different types exist. Some electric cars only run on electricity (BEVs), while others can also use gas as a backup (plug-in hybrids). There are even some that create electricity from hydrogen fuel!
Getting more popular. More and more people are buying electric cars because they're cheaper to run than gas cars and better for the environment. Soon you'll probably see way more of them on the roads!
