What banks do. A bank is a financial institution that holds your money safely and records every transaction, or money movement, you make. They're responsible for keeping accurate records of how much money you have at all times.
Different account types. Banks offer many kinds of accounts, like savings accounts where your money can earn extra money over time, or checking accounts where you can withdraw cash and pay for things easily. Each type has different rules about how you can use it.
Terms and conditions. When you open a bank account, the bank gives you rules explaining what you can do with it, how much money you need to keep in it, and what fees you might pay. Every bank sets their own rules, so accounts are different from place to place.
Your money is protected. When you put money into your bank account on deposit, the bank keeps it safe and secure. You can take your money out whenever you need it, as long as you follow the account's rules and conditions.
More than one account. You can have multiple bank accounts at the same bank or at different banks. Many people have one account for saving and another for everyday spending.
