Six cool species. There are six kinds of baboon, including the olive, yellow, chacma, Guinea, Kinda, and hamadryas baboons. Each one lives in its own part of Africa.

African natives. Baboons mostly live in Africa, but the hamadryas baboon also lives in part of the Arabian Peninsula.

Big monkeys. Baboons are among the largest monkeys in the world, not counting the apes.

Ancient animals. Baboons have existed for at least two million years, making them very old in the animal family tree.

Old World monkeys. They belong to a group called Old World monkeys, in the genus Papio.
