Freeze-dried magic. Most space food is freeze-dried, which removes water to make it super light and help it stay fresh for months. Astronauts add water back before eating to make it normal food again.

Eating without gravity. In zero gravity, regular food would float away and break apart, so space food comes in special packages like tubes, cans, and sealed bags that keep everything contained and easy to eat.

Balanced nutrition matters. Space food must give astronauts all the vitamins, minerals, and energy they need while they're working hard in space, so scientists carefully plan every meal.

Real food goes to space. Astronauts don't always eat processed food, they sometimes bring regular items like fruit, sandwiches, and even spirulina to enjoy familiar tastes during their missions.
