Young and lively. Africa has the youngest population of any continent. In 2012 the median age was just 19.7 years, while the world's was over 30.
Almost 1.4 billion. Nearly 1.4 billion people call Africa home, and by the year 2100 that could grow to more than 3.8 billion!
Fast growers. Even though Africa has less wealth per person, it's home to many of the fastest-growing economies in the whole world.
Islands included. That huge size counts nearby islands too, adding up to about 6% of Earth's total surface area.
