Frog relatives. Toads are a type of frog, especially those in the family Bufonidae. They look a little different from typical pond frogs.

Short and stubby. Toads have short legs, so instead of long leaps they often take small hops or walk along the ground.

Bumpy dry skin. Unlike smooth, slimy frogs, toads have dry, leathery skin covered in lots of large bumps.

Special glands. Those big bumps behind their eyes are called parotoid glands. They're a built-in part of the toad's body.
