God of the sea. Neptune is named after the Roman god of the sea, and its symbol is the trident he carried.

Far, far away. It's the eighth and farthest known planet from the Sun, orbiting at about 30 times Earth's distance.

A super-long year. Neptune takes about 164.8 Earth years to travel once around the Sun!

Big and heavy. It has 17 times the mass of Earth and is the densest of the giant planets.

No solid ground. Neptune is made mostly of gases and liquids, so it has no firm surface to stand on.
