Ocean's living world. Marine biology is all about understanding the incredible creatures, plants, and tiny organisms that call the sea their home. From enormous whales to invisible bacteria, scientists study them all!

Not about families. Marine biology is special because it groups animals by where they live, the ocean, rather than by what family they belong to. That means a dolphin and a shark might be studied together even though they're very different animals.

Exploring the unknown. More than 70% of Earth's surface is covered in ocean, and scientists are still discovering new sea creatures every single year. There's so much more to learn about what lives beneath the waves!

Life everywhere underwater. The ocean is full of living things in every corner, from shallow coral reefs to the darkest, deepest trenches. Marine biologists explore all these different habitats to understand how ocean life survives.
