A river made it. The Colorado River slowly carved the Grand Canyon over a very long time, cutting deep into the rock.
Super long. The canyon stretches about 277 miles (446 km) long, that's longer than many car road trips!
More than a mile deep. At its deepest, the Grand Canyon goes down over a mile into the earth.
Really wide too. In some places the canyon is up to 18 miles (29 km) wide from one side to the other.
