Cool facts
Volcanic eruption created it. About 60 million years ago, molten lava erupted from deep beneath the Earth and cooled into these amazing hexagonal (six-sided) columns.

Thousands of stone pillars. The Giant's Causeway has around 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that fit together like a giant puzzle made of stone.
Looks like a giant's pathway. The columns are so perfectly shaped and arranged that legend says they were built by a giant named Finn mac Cumhaill as a bridge to Scotland, but it's actually nature's perfect architecture.
Located in Northern Ireland. You can visit this UNESCO World Heritage site on the north coast of County Antrim, just a few miles from the town of Bushmills.
Natural geometry masterpiece. When lava cools slowly, it naturally cracks into six-sided shapes, the same pattern you see in honeycomb and snowflakes.
