Tons of types. There are about 4,600 different species of cockroach in the world. But only around 30 of them like to live near people.

Famous pests. A small number of cockroach species are well-known household pests, sneaking into kitchens and dark corners looking for food.

Order Blattodea. Scientists group all cockroaches into an order called Blattodea, which is their special branch on the insect family tree.

Tough survivors. Cockroaches are famous for being incredibly hardy insects that can live in many different environments.
