Cool facts
Trading Without Money. In barter, people swap things they have for things they need. If you had chickens and needed a new pot, you might trade some chickens to someone who makes pots.
One of the Oldest Trades. Barter is one of the very first ways humans figured out how to exchange things with each other, long before money was even invented. People have been swapping goods for thousands of years.
Instant and Fair. Barter deals happen right then and there, you give something and get something back immediately. Unlike gifts, where you might do something nice for someone and wait for them to help you later, barter is a quick even trade.
Still Used Today. Even though we mostly use money now, barter still happens! People trade services, swap items, or exchange goods during times when money is hard to find or worth less.
Usually One-on-One. Most barter happens between two people trading with each other, but sometimes groups can work together to trade multiple items at once.
