Cool facts
Nuts in layers. Baklava is filled with chopped nuts like pistachios, walnuts, or almonds tucked between super-thin sheets of pastry called filo.
Honey drizzle magic. After baking until golden and crispy, baklava gets soaked in sweet honey or sugar syrup that makes it sticky and delicious.
Impossibly thin dough. Filo pastry sheets are so thin you can almost see through them, bakers have to work carefully so they don't tear!
Crispy then soft. When you bite baklava, it starts out crackling and crispy on the outside, then becomes soft and gooey inside from the syrup.
Ancient favorite. Baklava has been loved for hundreds of years across the Middle East, Mediterranean, and beyond, it's a star dessert in many cultures.
