Cool facts
Tiny Metal Sparks. Sparklers work by burning a special mix of chemicals that create those bright, glowing sparks you see flying everywhere. The sparks are actually tiny pieces of hot metal burning in the air.
Seriously Hot. Sparklers burn at extremely high temperatures, hot enough to cause serious burns if you're not careful. Even though they look fun and harmless, they need to be handled with respect and adult supervision.
Slow and Steady. Unlike other fireworks that explode all at once, sparklers burn slowly and steadily, giving you a longer show to enjoy. This makes them popular at parties, celebrations, and holiday gatherings.
Rainbow of Colors. Different chemical compounds create different colored sparks, reds, blues, greens, and golds all come from changing what metals and chemicals are mixed into the sparkler. Chemists can literally paint with fire!
Safety First. Sparklers should only be used outdoors, held at arm's length, and never pointed at people or animals. Always have an adult present and keep a bucket of water nearby just in case.
